Ed Mylles
Ed has a nose for successful partnerships between the disability not-for-profit sector and business and creates innovative projects and publications that deliver good things for both.
Three things light his fire:
- Publishing
- Income generation
- Project management
Ed Mylles has been working in the disability equality space for more than 10 years. Before that he had forged a career in business-to-business publishing.
This experience stood him in good stead for his first third sector job with the Employers’ Forum on Disability. By listening hard and working fast, Ed developed and expanded the EFD’s publishing portfolio, now regarded as the ‘world’s leading publishing house on disability’.
Moving on to Radar he was attracted to the frontline challenges of small disability organisations that have a big job to do. Working as part of a dynamic team, RADAR’s relationship with the corporate sector flourished. Never a fan of ‘something-for-nothing’, Ed is particularly passionate about helping disability organisations make the shift from philanthropy to partnership.
A revamped and revitalised People of the Year Awards proved to be hugely successful and has become one of the UKs flagship events. Mentoring, MP Dialogue days also captured the imagination and support of corporates. Ed conceived and launched the acclaimed series of Doing Life Differently publications which continues to encourage and motivate disabled people.
Ed went freelance in 2008 and set about developing and delivering products, projects and income for a number of organisations such as EFD, Disabled Parents Network and Afasic. And he loves the ground-breaking work on disabled employee networks. This work continues to light Ed’s candle, and he supports the team to secure trusted sponsors and supporters.
Oh yes, Ed has four children, loves books, records and the occasional visit to Old Trafford and Hampden Park.
